UNION joinied colleagues from the Fellowship of Questions project in Bucharest in April, starting to work on the #100questionsfromUkraine project.

The war waged by Russia against the Ukrainian people has a devastating impact as we see from the media reports every day and the terrible stories of killings and abuse of civilians. But how do we talk about it when it is so difficult to even imagine a positive outcome. Following discussions with our partners in Kyiv, The Cultural Hub, organisations from Romania, Serbia, Germany, Portugal and the UK spent the week talking with refugees from Ukraine, with communities and activists from Romania and other countries in Eastern Europe aiming  to start to map out the questions that come from the war in Ukraine…

What does the war mean to you?
Is this a war that affects the whole world? Is this a war against the whole world?
Why was the war in Syria not enough to stop the aggression, or in Georgia, in Transnistria…?
Are you asking to stop the war, or asking for victory? And what would victory mean, in this case?
Does war allow you the time to ask yourselves questions, or does it demand immediate answers? Who is questioning the truth more, us or them?

The Cultural Hub have taken the project further, in July working with a range of people from Ukraine and creating this web of questions in July…
