Jon Cornbill
Gateshead
Jon Cornbilll is interdisciplinary artist and curator based in Newcastle and Gateshead, UK. He earned a BFA from Newcastle University in 2016, with a semester abroad at The Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 2015.
The work can be seen as a contemporary societal, cultural intrigue and diagnosis, stimulating discussion around the systems we live under and communities that we are part of; treading a line between a disarming, skewed humour and a gentle appetite for hope.
He has exhibited regularly across The North East since 2012 and been a part of group shows in London, Manchester, Orléans and Warsaw.
Jon is affiliated with The NewBridge Project, an Artist led community of studio and exhibition space in Newcastle Upon Tyne. He lives in Gateshead with 4 friends and often collaborators; in a disused shop he redesigned and renovated into a studio, community workshop and home after graduating.
He likes eking out reading K-Punk so it will last ages, record shopping in the £1 bin and nodding in agreement with Kevin McCloud. He makes music, DJs and puts on parties as Pink Keith alongside producer/ DJ Lewis Wilson.
