flematu sessay is a British-Sierra Leonean interdisciplinary creative and cultural producer based in Manchester, UK.

After a long tenure in the architecture and design industry she set up the practice, public tactics., with an ambition to work alongside other artists, designers, scholars, and communities to foster exchange and dialogue around topics of interest and amplify creativity that occurs at the intersection of race, gender, and identity.

flematu’s creative praxis is research-driven and rooted in collaboration, working with other practitioners and communities to explore the spaces we occupy, and the everyday routines and rituals performed within them. With her work, she seeks to create situations that empower people to shape their environments, infusing their personal narratives and breathing life into the often-overlooked moments of the everyday.

flematu believes in the importance of community and developing meaningful connections to provide collective support. She aspires to work with community and for community, striving to produce a reflection of the collective. Whether teaming up with artists, engaging with audiences, or contributing to cultural initiatives, she prioritises collaboration and shared purpose and this is the driving force that shapes her interactions, pursuits, and ambitions.
